Day 3 of 3-Day Portrait

3-Day Portrait: Day 3

Monday was the third session of the 3-day pose in my portrait painting class at the Multnomah Arts Center. On day 2, I refined the drawing, making adjustments to the gesture of the pose, the tilt of the head, and the shadow shapes.

On day 3 I further refined all the shapes moving closer to a likeness of the model. I used mostly Transparent Iron Oxide Orange, Indian Red, Ivory Black, and Titanium White.

3-Day Portrait: Day 2

Monday was the second session of the 3-day pose in my portrait painting class at the Multnomah Arts Center. On the first day, I just put in a basic drawing with shapes of cool and warm tones, and worked on the values. On day 2, I refined the drawing, making adjustments to the gesture of the pose, the tilt of the head, and the shadow shapes; I lowered the ear, made the shadow shape under the nose smaller, defined the upper lip and the eyes.

Augustache

While the in-laws were in town over the weekend, I had my brother-in-law sit for a quick sketch in oils. He had this great red white and blue trucker hat and a trim mustache that he said was for "Augustache", something I hadn't heard of.
